We fund research to stop prostate cancer killing men

Story

I'm running the Virgin London Marathon 2015 and thought it would be a good idea to try and raise some money for a good cause in the process. I've chosen Prostate Cancer UK as my nominated charity in memory of my Dad who died of prostate cancer in 2011 and also because it is the most common cause of cancer for men in the UK.

After doing 90% of the training for the 2014 London Marathon then getting injured, it's make or break time this year and I'm doubly determined to get to the finish line. I've been holding off on starting my fundraising page until I was sure I'd be able to run, so with all my really long training runs out of the way and no injury niggles, I'm hoping people will sponsor me for a good cause. I have a public ballot place for the marathon, so this isn't one of those deals where I ask people to sponsor me, but part of it is that I need to raise a certain amount for the charity to get a free marathon entry. I'm running regardless of whether I even raise a penny.

My primary target is to get to the finish line, but I'd also like to beat my previous best marathon time of 4:51 and get as close to 4:30 as possible. Even if you don't sponsor me I still hope you'll be sending some positive thoughts on the day!
