Story
If you know me, you know I am a member of the Harvel Hash House Harriers (one of the slower ones!) and each year the club has a ballot for 2 x £1,000 contributions towards a London Marathon charity place. (The funds generated by our annual Harvel 5 race) ... and guess what? I only won one! So the club is to contribute £1,000 but I need to raise the additional £1,000.
Many thought I would have run for a cancer charity due to me having bowel cancer 10 years ago, but following two major operations and an long course of chemo I was given the 'all clear' 5 years ago. (Hence my club name!) Cancer charities have a lot of supporters and have big events to raise money via the media, especially via the TV, so I have gone for a smaller charity that really needs the funding as well and makes a difference, as follows:-
Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity. Our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs. Cats Protection has simple and clear objectives to help cats:Homing - Finding good homes for cats in needNeutering - Supporting and encouraging the neutering of catsInformation - Improving people’s understanding of cats and their careAchieving this vision is only made possible due to kind cat lovers who support our work. Visit www.cats.org.uk for more information.
Also if you know me, I have adopted several cats over the years, including good old Splodge (RIP) and currently Thomas and Pixie.
My funds raised will go directly to the Sittingbourne Centre, being the closest one to me.
I look forward to any donations and thank you in advance.
