Story

I have always enjoyed a walk but never done anything really challenging.

On May 19th, this year, I walked the Walk for Kids around Birmingham, a distance of about 26 miles. I was hoping that this would tax me but, without sounding big-headed, it was an easy walk of around 6 hours. I started looking for something a bit more challenging.

A 50km (31 mile) walk would only be a bit further than I had done but I reckon that double that would be a proper walk that would test my mettle. And if I were going to put all the training in, I thought that it would be a good idea to do a walk for charity and make all my hard work worthwhile.

My wife works in a nursing home and has had experience of the excellent work that the Macmillan nurses do in caring for those with cancer. We decided that Macmillan Cancer Support would be a worthwhile cause and have decided to seek sponsorship for that charity.
