End to End Challenge
The ‘Aircraft Golfing Society’ this year are supporting ‘Canine Partners’ a very special charity providing assistance dogs for people with complex physical challenges, disabilities.
Conditions including, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, spinal/head injuries, etc.
Canine Partners train these very special dogs, to help with everyday tasks to give people much needed, level of independence.
Canine Partners also work closely with Help for Heroes, The Royal British Legion and other service organisations to provide assistance dogs for veterans and those wounded in service.
The life of the Partnership costs £30,000 (£7/day).
Puppy Selection/Training £7,500
In support of our Captain Les (White) I have agreed to a little challenge, in the hope we can contribute to his target, in support of this special charity.
Lands End to John O’ Groats, a must for all cyclists.
First accomplished on a Penny Farthing in 65 days, 16 hours, in 1880.
The record now stands at a staggering, 43 hours, 25 minutes.
My Challenge is set at 9 days.
Lands End – Tavistock – Wookey Hole – Ludlow – Chorley – Carlisle – Kilsyth – Fort William – Evanton – John O’ Groats.
(The selected route averages over 100 miles/day, with well over 5,000’/day climbing, with no rest days).
Training has gone very well, managed to shift some 35lbs, injury free, now only 50 days to the start.
Collectively, we have raised well over £250k for various good causes, I would be really grateful if you can support my efforts to at least raise enough to sponsor a Puppy through selection and initial training. Giving us the opportunity to follow Puppies progress and partnership with its new owner.
I am under no illusion that nine days is a big ask, over some very interesting terrain, but knowing I have your support, and having read the difference these special dogs can make to peoples lives, will hopefully give me the focus required to reach John O’Groats, in 9 days.
Thank you
