Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Ben and Olivia are two lovely children who were involved in a tragic car accident whilst on holiday in New Zealand in October 2018. Their mum Kerry Sargent was killed and their other mum Julie Sargent was seriously injured.
It was supposed to be the holiday of a lifetime but whilst going out for dinner one evening with friends, a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction crossed over the central line and collided with Kerry and Jules’ car. Kerry was pronounced dead at the scene and Jules was rushed to hospital. Thankfully, neither Ben or Olivia were seriously harmed, but the memory of that awful event remains at the forefront of their minds.
Julie, Ben and Olivia have now returned to the UK and are endeavouring to deal with the huge void which has been left in their family unit due to the loss of their wife and mum, Kerry. They are being supported by Winstons wish.
Kerry was a fun loving lady and only celebrated her 42nd birthday on the 7th October 2018. She was a caring wife, a supportive mum, an amazing friend and colleague. She was also a very special friend to Sarah and I.
Sarah and I will be trekking to the lost city in Colombia between October 1st and October 7th 2019, through the jungle, sleeping in hammocks (with spiders and other bugs), this will be in order to raise funds directly for Winstons wish, every penny you donate will go directly to them. We will finish this trek on what would have been Kerry’s 43rd Birthday.
Winston’s Wish is a UK childhood bereavement charity, set up in 1992 to help children and young people re-adjust to life after the death of a parent or sibling. By providing professional assistance before, during and after bereavement they help them to better understand the nature of loss and offer the practical support and guidance that many need in order to cope throughout the grieving process. They are an amazing charity, Sarah and I know they are and will continue to make a difference not only to Julie, Ben and Olivia's life but also to those other children who find them unlucky enough to suffer the loss of a parent.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE donate what you can to this very worthy cause... and we promise to post photos of some of the stunning scenery, bugs and spiders we see!! Two months and counting. .
