Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now...

What I'll be enduring...

Set in the wilderness 150km south of the Arctic circle. This once in a lifetime experience will challenge my ability to adapt and live in the heart of this harsh environment, testing my survival instinct. I will have to learn the life saving skills of ice fishing, fire lighting, shelter and snow hole building.

Building of shelters will take up much of the day and there is intermitent rest to be had by night as we must take it in shifts to maintain the fire throughout.

To even reach our survival destiantion I will have to under take one of the most difficult endurance sports - cross-country skiing - as its motions use every major muscle group and it is one of the sports that burn the most calories per hour in execution. Thus with only MoD style ration packs I will be trying out my animal catching and preparing skill where possible. Additionally, I will attempt to control a husky driven sled.

My fundraising efforts so far...

I have been hodling dress down days and cake sales at my place of work. I have also been selling donated items at car boots sales in the famous Southam car boot of Cheltenham.

My future fundraising efforts...

Two more dress down days are planned at my place of work - November 2011 and February 2012.

Car boot sale attendence will continue until the end of October 2011.

Cake sales will continue every Wedneday until Christmas 2011.

The big event to put in your diary is the charity Auction and Curry night being held on Saturday 26th November at Gloucester Old Boys Rugby Football Club, 7pm til late. Lots of items have already been kindly donated and many more to be added to list. Please get in touch (kerry.mullen@edf-energy.com) if you'd like a tickes, just £10 to attend, including meal (curry).

Thanks again for takign the time to read about my activities

Best Wishes
