Story
I am running the Great North Run 2012 in memory of a very special little girl called Maisie Eleanor Graham who very sadly passed away on May 15th 2011 - a day that will stay in our memories forever for all the wrong reasons.
Maisie contracted Meningococcal Septicemia, the most aggressive type of the disease. I've been told brave Maisie fought extremely hard for some hours before eventually passing away in her Mammy and Daddy's arms.
For those of you who never knew Maisie I wish you could have met her, even just for 5 minutes. Words cannot really describe my thoughts about Maisie but I will try. For those of you who did have the pleasure of knowing Maisie you will understand.
Maisie truly was the most perfect, sweet little girl, she was such a joy to be around. Maisie was so content with life and such a generous little girl always sharing her toys with others. Maisie was also very advanced for her age; she could count to 10 by the age of just 18 months old! Maisie had an extraordinary memory and could remember things that would blow you away. Maisie LOVED books. She enjoyed her mammy and daddy reading her story after story as no sooner than they had come to the end of a book she would turn to her parents and say ‘again'. She had such a zest for life.
Maisie is a much loved and greatly missed little girl. She is never far away in our thoughts.
Please help to raise some money in support of Meningitis Research Foundation and raise awareness of this horrible disease to help prevent another little child from experiencing this and a family from enduring the heartache of this disease and it's consequences.
In loving memory of Maisie Eleanor Graham x
