Story
My younger brother has always been a fighter - he has led an awesome life, buiding a fantastic career (despite being told at school that he would amount to little) and thereby providing the best life for his wonderful wife and two children. A family to be very proud of <3
He beat cancer two years ago - an aggressive melanoma which was removed and he fought back to total good health.
The wind was taken out of his sails earlier this year when he received the news that cancer had returned to not just one but three areas of his body, including the brain. What a fighter he has been - standing up to this vile disease and doing everything in his power to stop it. However, despite rounds and rounds of treatment, including the horendous gamma ray treatment, the cancer has won. My brave wonderful brother lost his battle on 15th December 2018 ....
Watching from the wings, I watched my brother slowly fade from the bright, funny, intelligent, loving man he had been. I can only now offer support for his beautiful family.
He was an incredible man - a devoted father, a loving husband, a loyal friend, an encouraging colleague, an inspiring uncle and godfather and a truly amazing brother. I am honoured to be his sister
It is his 52nd birthday on 25th March 2019 and I am going to walk 20 miles for him and also for the Macmillan fund on SUNDAY 24th MARCH 2019 - an amazing charity who offer so much in clinical, palliative and emotional support for those who are fighting this worst of diseases and for their families. I had a total knee replacement and ACL/PCL reconstruction in July 2018 and I know my brother would say to me 'get out there and DO IT - don't let it beat you'. I also had childhood leukaemia at 5 and was in full remission at 10 - so I am a lucky fighter and survivor
So I am going to train hard now and walk those 20 miles for the man I am proud to call my brother and my friend <3
