Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So at the start of this year I asked my theatre group if they would be willing to make a small charitable donation each time I booked theatre tickets. My intention was to divide the donations at the end of the year between two charities, one in memory of mum (to be decided) and the other the Frank Haines Memorial Trust charity of which I'm a trustee (and which supports a number of East London charities focused on children and young people).

Unfortunately 2020 had different ideas: theatre bookings soon became impossible and the idea never got off the ground!

It's been on my mind over the last little while again, thinking so much about mum and also all the people who rely on charities just to get by at the moment.

So I want to do something. I've decided to use this opportunity to address the fact that I've been really quite depressed, working way too many hours and not moving enough. Some days I don't even leave the house!

I'm aiming to walk 5,000 steps a day every day in November while raising money for the Frank Haines Memorial Trust. This might not sound much to you, but for me it would represent a significant and sustained improvement and would hopefully pave the way for better things. But I won't get ahead of myself! It's especially challenging given my long work hours and the lack of daylight and good weather. I'm terrified even writing this! I'd be spurred on if I could raise some money for charity while trying to get fitter at the same time.

I know this has been a tough and worrying time for many financially. If you are in a position to donate - thanks a million.
