Story
I lost my mother to cancer in February 2010. This had a devastating effect on my life. I was extremely naive and sheltered about the levels of cancer in every day life and society. Today Ireland has the 3rd highest rate of cancer in the world. Every 3 minutes somebody in Ireland will receive a cancer diagnosis. Every hour someone in Ireland dies from a cancer related illness. Everyone in society including myself are becoming more educated to the causes of cancer and the need for extra funding to tackle this cancer epidemic. More than 170,000 people in Ireland are living with and beyond cancer today. These people are survivors and are hero’s. I am trying to raise much needed funding for Beaumont Hospital. On the 12th of October 2019 I will attempt an abseil off the Hogan Stand roof in Croke Park. Croke Park is somewhere very close to my heart with many glorious memories. However this challenge will push me to the limits of my mental and physical ability. I would greatly appreciate any sponsorship for this most worthwhile charity and brilliant cause. To quote my own mother “the team in Beaumont Hospital are angels without their wings”.
