Story
On Friday the 11th of March 2016 at 21.50 our special little boy Beckett Thomas James Mitchell was born at Gloucester Royal. For five long minutes after his arrival we waited for him to take his first breath. After further complications the Neonatel Unit at Gloucester Royal made the difficult decision to transfer him by ambulance to Bristol St Michael's to begin what would be the most difficult week of our lives.
When we arrived at Bristol, Cots For Tots offered us a family room that we could stay in free of charge for as long as we needed it. The facility was invaluable. Situated directly across the road to the main entrance of St Michaels, it meant that we could remain by Beckett's side while he was in ICU. It had a fully equipped kitchen and a lounge. When Mabel and Sonny came to visit their baby brother they too were welcome to stay in our family room. They played with the many toys in the lounge and really enjoyed their stay. This facility/Charity means that parents can be there for their babies while they are at their most vulnerable. The week we spent in ICU St Michael's was the most difficult and worrying week of our lives but having Cots for tots made the whole experience a lot easier. At night, knowing we were metres away from Beckett rather than many miles was a great comfort and this is why we would like to raise money for Cots For Tots.
On Sunday 10th of July (the day after Beckett's christening) we will, with our families take to the hills on a sponsored walk to raise money. The walk will comprise a modest 10k route to accommodate all ages and abilities.
We would really appreciate any help you can give for this amazing charity.
