Story
"This is the news you’ve all been waiting for… the
resurgence of the Kernow KilomEaters!!!
"Last year you cycled, ran, swam, surfed, golfed, weight lifted, car washed, dog walked etc your way to an amazing 14,130km! We started off on a journey as a company to cumulatively travel the distance from Lands’ End to John O’Groats. The Kernow KilomEaters alone smashed that target early on in our quest, so we then set ourselves a more ambitious target to visit the Tokyo Olympics. In the end we went all the way the Tokyo and made it half way back again!
"During the first COVID-19 lockdown last year, I saw amazing resilience
as you pulled together as the great team that we are all fortunate enough to work within in Cornwall. For many of us the Kernow KilomEaters challenge allowed us focus on a common goal during uncertain times and helped pull us all through towards a brighter future.
"This year we’re going to up the stakes and set ourselves a
more challenging target and, importantly, capitalise on our efforts to raise a huge amount of money for Macmillan Cancer Support as part of our wider national goal (£100k in 2021).
"We will be starting from Lands’ End again, but this time the
challenge will be to circumnavigate the coastline of mainland Britain, working our way round anticlockwise. Estimates of the coastline length vary, but according to the CIA the UK Coastline is around 12,429 km !
"The plan is to start to the challenge on Tuesday 06
April 2021 and I reckon it will take us around 2 months to complete. As with last year’s challenge, the intention will be to make the event accessible to all forms of physical activity of sessions of 20 minutes or more. If you undertake a non-distance based activity, our super duper calculator will convert it into distance. Whilst the uptake for last year’s event was amazing, we want to see even more participation this year so please cascade the plan to all of your wider team members and help them with logging their efforts when the time comes. We’ll be tracking our progress on a weekly basis with a little infographic to show how far along the coast we have travelled.
"Best of luck team, I know I can count on you!" - Patrick Daws, General Manager
