Hi everybody and welcome to our fundraising page!

Our initial target was to raise £2500 to fund the instilation of 2 biogas units. However we have been overwhelmed with generous donations and it looks like we can do even better!... A big thank you to all those who have donated so far.

We have been encouraged to move our target to £4000. This will enable us to instal a further 2, smaller digesters and possibly even a third!

This summer we are carrying out a biogas project in south-west Kenya with a community called the Sakutiek in the North Narok District on the Mau escarpment! 

We are the Project Managers of a charity called Dig Deep (www.digdeep.org.uk) and therefore will be running the project from start to finish - raising funds before we leave the UK, contracting a Kenyan biogas firm to install a biogas digester underground, recruiting locals to help with the pit construction and working with the local council to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

We are both very excited and have a real opportunity to make a BIG difference, but in order to do so, we are turning to our friends and families to help us out by shedding out some of their hard earned cash! Once the project is finished, the whole village will be able to benefit from a wide range of lifestyle improvements; cooking gas, lamps, hot showers and even electricity will be provided for the entire Sakutiek community! 

Biogas projects on this scale have proven to be extremely successful in other regions across Africa, and are a positive step forward in the attempt to accelerate the development of areas with sub-standard living conditions. Biogas not only has various practical energy providing benefits but also social, health and environmental advantages too.
