Kent Police Public Protection Unit are supporting the ‘Tour De Force’ ride in benefit of Child Victims Of Crime. This fundraising event is a gruelling bike ride of over 2000 miles as the Charity Manager, Dominic Chambers attempts to ride to every force HQ in England, Scotland and Wales
Child Victims of Crime is the only national police children’s charity and was set up in 1993 following the Warrington bombings. They provide material support to any child up to and including 16 years of age who has been a victim of, or traumatised by any criminal offence committed in the United Kingdom. Only police officers can nominate a child for an award and to date over 4000 children have been granted awards varying from funding for private counselling sessions, holidays and activity breaks, tickets to events, mountain bikes, computers and high street gift vouchers.
Over £20,000 has been allocated to child victims of crime in Kent and this has included 7 victims and their families going to Disney World, Florida, 17 children enjoying holidays paid for by Child Victims of Crime and 25 victims benefiting from computers, gift vouchers and theme park tickets.
