Story
March 21st marks the first year Anniversary of Ken’s passing prematurely from the nightmare known as Melanoma. We have been left devastated by his loss and feel understandably angry that we could not do more to help him survive this cancer. There has been some great progress in the treatment of Melanoma with new targeted therapies and immunotherapies and for a moment we believed that they could provide the miracle that we so desperately needed when tumors were discovered in Kens brain, liver, abdomen, kidneys and bone. But these therapies had temporary success and we lost the most amazing person despite having one of the best cancer teams in the world with every treatment and surgery at their disposal.
We hope with our fundraising to enable researchers to continue their effort to discover better ways of detecting and treating melanoma cancers. We hope that no one else will have to experience the pain and heartache of loss from this disease.
We know Ken would be proud of us all doing something so positive in the face of something so tragic.
Kens spirit hasn't left us and he continues to inspire us because, really he was a bloody Dublin/SF legend. đź’•
Special thanks to Kate and Eileen for allowing us to have this fundraising opportunity during one of their many charity events. You girls are stars in our Irish community and beyond.
Thank you everyone
