Story
Last year Megan & I were excited to find out we were expecting our first child. During a routine heart check up for my wife, she was newly diagnosed with a dilated aorta. This unfortunately meant that we had to terminate our pregnancy, as continuing with the pregnancy would have been fatal for Megan. We went through a termination for medical reasons (maternal) in July of 2022.
After feeling isolated, and not able to find anybody to speak to who has a shared experience of baby loss, we found Tommy's.
Tommy's is the first charity we found who were able to help us and share stories of other people who have had the devastating experience of baby loss like myself and Megan. The money they raise is so important to ensure research can be completed and shared with organisations such as the NHS to allow families to have happy, healthy pregnancies & support more families who find themselves in difficult positions.
I struggled after the loss to know how to feel. I found this very difficult as the majority of support found is for the Mum's of baby loss. Seeking to find help and support I made the decision to be on a podcast "Time To Talk TFMR" to discuss my story and hopefully help other Dads reach out and talk about their baby loss. (Link below). I feel passionate to start conversations for other dads who have been through a similar experiences in the hope they may feel less alone.
I am running the 2024 London Marathon, not only for the families who have experienced baby loss. But also for the Dad's who are also experiencing grievance and may not be able to find suitable support. If we can be brave for our families and each other. I can run 26.2 miles and raise money for such an amazing cause.
