Story
You many remember Angus's story from two years ago about his cello teacher who died from cancer. This year, yet again, Angus and Isla have seen people they love and care for affected by cancer. Closest to home is Uncle Clive. He is married to their Granny and was ill over Christmas last year. In February of this year he was diagnosed with a Lymphoma. We have been to visit Granny a couple of times and both Angus and Isla have seen how the cancer and its subsequent treatment have affected him: losing weight, his hair, his energy, and how hard this has been on both him and Granny.
Throughout all the treatment and before, Granny and Clive were supported enormously by Macmillan. When Angus and Isla decided they wanted to run again in the Great North Run, they asked Granny to speak with Clive's cancer specialist. Who did he suggest they run for this year? He categorically suggested Macmillan. Granny and Clive would agree: the Macmillan nurses have been there the whole way through supporting, advising, listening, and caring. Without their wonderful work the whole experience of cancer and its treatment would have been much more difficult. So, show Angus and Isla how much you support them in their aim to eradicate cancer, and Macmillan in their work to support families in the meantime.
I need to mention here that Angus feels so strongly about Macmillan and raising money for them that HE IS DOING THIS RUN ON HIS 8th BIRTHDAY. Surely that deserves some extra "support"!
Uncle Clive is doing well: he has completed his course of chemotherapy and is in the process of rebuilding his strength (and his hair!)
