Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm challenging myself to get in shape to ride 300 miles in 4 days from London to Paris. And I'm challenging my RTP friends and colleagues at both ViiV and GSK to give generously to this very worthy cause. There's a tremendous amount of good work being done by Save the Children, and so much more work yet to be done. Thank you!
Here's the background info on the GSK-Save the Children Partnership.
A unique partnership
million children’s lives. We work in 45 countries, but support two main
programmes, one in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the second in Kenya, tackling severe challenges in the supply of and demand for effective healthcare for mothers and their babies. The programme in Kenya specifically focuses on improving newborn survival by increasing access to quality health systems and services. It has contributed to an 11-fold increase of the maternal and newborn health budget in Bungoma County for 2017.
To date, worldwide, the partnership has trained over 20,000 health
workers, fully immunised 97,600 children and treated over 187,000
children for pneumonia, malaria or diarrhoea since 2013.
GSK employees have danced, baked, run and cycled, to name just a few
fundraising ideas, and have so far raised an impressive £3.2million.
We’ve directly helped more than 2.83 million children in 45 countries
– but there is still a long way to go.
That is why we have committed to continue with our partnership for a further 5 years.
