Story
We still can’t believe it. It doesn´t seem real. A year ago everything was fine, Andrew was standing in the middle of his life, enjoying his work, loving his salsa dancing lessons and making plans for the future.
In June 2019 everything changed. It started with him going to the doctor because of some light pain in the stomach. After taking some exams, he got the devastating diagnosis: Bowel cancer, advanced stage. The tumour was already enclosing his entire bowel. Nobody could believe what was happening. Even after this diagnosis Andrew was still hoping for the best, I remember him saying: “The probability of surviving this illness is greater as that of being diagnosed with it at my age.” Andrew had so many plans, raising a family with his beloved wife Carolina would be one of the most important ones. They imagined how life would be with kids, living on the countryside, playing together all day long. Until the very end he was holding on to his dreams.
He passed away on the 8th of April 2020.
A good heart has stopped beating, a beautiful soul, full of love and faith, ascended to heaven. We will miss you, Andrew. We will miss you so much.
We are collecting a donation for the charity Shine, which supports adults in the age of 20-40 who have experienced a cancer diagnosis like Andrew. We would appreciate it if you would donate money to this cause instead of sending flowers.
Thank you.
