Story
This is our beautiful Bea. ❤️ Many of you will know that she is severely autistic and this affects every single aspect of her life. One of Bea’s most significant difficulties is her ability to communicate and understand social interactions and situations. This is where the amazing FairPlay has made such a difference to her life and ours as a family too.
FairPlay is a charity based in Chesterfield which offers support to children and young people with disabilities, aged 0-25, and to parents and siblings across Derbyshire. Fairplay runs play schemes and Saturday clubs for children, youth clubs, activity days, themed groups, and independent living groups for young people. It also hosts parent support groups, sibling support and family trips for parents and siblings. Currently, FairPlay is supporting over 400 young people across Derbyshire!
Bea attends lots of sessions provided by FairPlay, the team are brilliant in supporting her. It’s a safe place for her where she can be herself. 💕 She’s been able to make friends, learn new skills and have a great time whilst developing her independence. The staff and many, many volunteers work so hard to run sessions which give young people new experiences, meet their sensory needs and provide opportunities to socialise. It really is the most wonderful place. To keep operating, FairPlay needs to raise £550,000 a year.
To help raise money for this vital organisation we have decided to do a little bit of running. I am participating in the Great Manchester Run on 21st May and we are both running the Great North Run on 10th Sept. These are both half marathons.
We know that these days we’ve all been affected by the rising cost of living. However, if you can spare a few pennies as a donation for this phenomenal charity that would be amazing.
Thanks so much!
