On the 19th May Blake will be completing Mud Kids to raise money for the incredible cause that is the Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Back in 2014, Blake was diagnosed 12 days after birth with transposition of the great arteries, atrial septal defect and ventricular septal defect (and to complicate matters further, Blake's heart is back to front) as a result, when Blake was only three weeks old and weighing under 6lbs, underwent lifesaving open heart surgery to switch his main arteries around and repair the two holes in his heart.
In total Blake spent around 6 weeks living in and being cared for by this hospital (which is absolutely nothing compared to his other little amazing friends and their parents)
From A&E, to Ward 11 and Ward 12 and all the amazing staff, radiology to Intensive Care, the incredible surgeons, family liaison officers, parent accomodation, heart outpatients, my consultants and every other amazing unit/department you run..There is not a single word that will ever describe just how utterly amazing this hospital is and that is why Blake and his family would like to raise as much money as possible towards this fabulous hospital and all the other children/parents that need their help and support in the future.
