I am doing the 23 mile charity cycle event Tour De Furness. My chosen charity is the Myositis Support Group, as in February this year my mum was diagnosed with polymyositis. Before she became ill, she was fit and healthy and we played netball and went horse-riding together. 

This is a horrible disease where the immune system attacks the muscles in your body. It makes you weak, achey and tired and mum is often in pain and upset. There is no known cause for it and it isnt curable, but is manageable. The support group funds research into the disease to hopefully find out why it's caused and to hopefully find a cure.
