We give the best care and support to families facing terminal illness

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As most of you know I lost my amazing friend Sheryl in March this year after a long battle against Non Hodgkins Lymphoma.

I could go on for hours explaining why sheryl really was an amazing friend but to keep it sort I will just share two stories that will stick with me forever.

I went on my first holiday abroad (without adults) with Sheryl. Not long after arriving at the hotel we realised that they had quite a big problem with Cockroaches, previously unknown to me I have a huge phobia of them and ended up being quite ill and was not able to sleep. After several nights of no sleep Sheryl decided that to ensure I would sleep that night she would sit at the end of my bed a read, she promised not to move and she stuck to her word and fell a sleep sat at the end of my bed.

Then last year during Sheryl's battle against this disease, I found out my mum was terminally ill. This would be to much for many in Sheryl's position and they would understandably take a step back but not Sheryl as she was there for me every step of the way. Even when due to treatment she was too vulnerable to meet up we would speak nearly every day and she would listen to me complain about what my mum was going through and she would always show concern for me. On the few occasions that she was feeling vulnerable and would talk about her own battle she would then apologise for putting on me and all I could do was tell her that friendship was a two way thing and one day we would get to share happier times again and to visit the places we wanted to. However we didn't get the good times back as after many cruel twists Sheryl received the worst news possible, that her illness was terminal. I will never forget the call in which she told me and again apologised for putting me through it all again so soon, which although showed her truly selfless character it broke my heart as none of this was her fault and how could she be worrying about me at this time.

I told Sheryl many time she really was the strongest and most selfless person I have ever known. She was the most amazing friend.

Sheryl spent her final days in EllenorLions hospice and not only did they care for her with compassion and dignity but they also provided accommodation to enable her family to stay 24/7.

Nothing was to much trouble for the staff and they supported not only Sheryl but also her family and friends.

They provided a setting that enabled Sheryl's last days to be spent with all that cared for her and for this we will always be thank full.

Please help us raise money in memory of a truly amazing person and for a wonderful cause.
