Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Those who know me well will know exactly why I am doing this insane challange.
For those of you who don't......
Coronary Heart Disease and all that comes with it has had a huge affect on my family, and on my dad particularly, who has struggled with various heart issues for 30 years; 3 heart attacks, a double bypass, outliving a pacemaker and needing a new one, angioplastys and of late, pneumonia.
On paper my dad shouldn't have come through half of what he has..... but he is as strong as an ox. 15 years ago after his second heart attack he was told he needed another double bypass but this time the doctors were not keen to operate and instead attempted to control and stabilise his symptoms with medication. Thanks to the advances in medicine and research carried out by the British Heart Foundation we have had my father with us for 15 more years than we would have, and for that I feel blessed and incredibly grateful.
For 8 weeks my family and I had to stand back helplessly, and watch my dad's health deteriorate further after pnueumonia and a 3rd heart attack. He had stage 4 heart failure.
At present there isn't anything that can be done to mend the broken hearts of those who have heart failure but with the amazing work the British Heart Foundation are doing, I am hopeful that one day they will find something to help others with heart failure, and help take away the pain of watching someone you love fade away with their mending broken hearts campaign.
During the preparation for this event on Wednesday the 28th of February at 3.20pm my dad decided his last fight was over. He was comfortable and painfree for 30 hours after all medical support was withdrawn.
So this challenge is FOR MY DAD, with my husband by my side I will do it, and no matter how tough it may be it's a fraction of what my dad went through and lets face it guys if I am half as strong as he was I will be ok......
