Story

Hello guy’s thank you for taking time to look at my just giving page it means a lot :)).

My BEAUTIFUL nephew Jaik was rushed to Sheffield Children's Hospital Twenty weeks ago after he had suffered with a bleed on his brain! This was such a shock as Jaiky had been absolutely fine right up until the night before when he felt a little sick and had a headache. The morning after Jaik wasn’t well and before long was rushed to Sheffield Children’s Hospital to undergo brain surgery to stop the bleed.

Jaik was eight years old when this happened enjoying his childhood like any other normal little boy until he suffered with what is known as AVM ( Arteriovenous Malformation) on his brain. Jaik was born with abnormal blood vessels on his brain eight years later one eventually burst and caused the bleed.

In the past twenty weeks Jaik has been fighting for his life, with his AMAZING and STRONG mum Jade Hicks by his side each and every day with all our family there to support them both whilst jaik's had eight operations (such a fighter). However the extent of the damage has left Jaik severely disabled, he's had part of his skull removed, a Tracheostomy and a peg feeding tube inserted in to his tummy.

It still to this day doesn’t seem real !!!!!!!

My sister Jade is still at Sheffield Children's Hospital currently caring for Jaik and his need's with the help of the fantastic staff who provide thousands of children with a high level of care on a day to day basis. Whilst visiting Jaik at the hospital over the weeks has made me aware of how many children are critically ill, the amount of families who are torn to pieces by their children's devastating illnesses and along with Jaik’s are many more heart breaking stories. Luckily Jade has been provided with living accommodation in Tree Tops in the actual Hospital however not all parents are given this facility which is very much needed when families live outside the Sheffield area.

I'm such a proud Aunty as I've been blessed to watch Jaik grow into a wonderful young boy who is loved by everyone. His teachers say that if they had a class room full of Jaik's it would be perfect! :))

I miss chasing my nephew out the door for a kiss when he leave's and says good bye (am eight now aunty Kelly) and wish there was something that I could do to change his situation but unfortunately for Jaik, Jade and all our family it's a case of taking things day by day in hope Jaik will continue to improve.

There is so much love for Jaik but how do you as a parent, aunty close relations and friends especially the children begin to understand and deal with the heart break of what’s happened???

We as a family are so very grateful for all the support we have been given from everyone throughout this devastating time. On the 28th of July I will be completing a 15,000 ft sky dive along with my sister Sarah and her friend Stacey Baker, very scared but hope to raise as much as possible for the Children’s Hospital which will help them continue to provide a high level of care for all the precious children and I will be paying for the sky dive myself so every penny will go to the charity . . . please help by donating however big or small it all counts and will be very much appreciated.
