Story
Thank you for visiting my sponsorship page.Action Medical Research is the leading UK-wide charity saving and changing children’s lives through medical research. For 65 years we’ve helped pioneer ways to prevent disease and develop treatments benefiting millions of people. Our research has helped to beat polio in the UK, develop ultrasound, fight meningitis and prevent stillbirths. But we urgently need to develop more new treatments and cures for sick babies and children and we can’t do it without you.Join our fight for little lives.
As well as the above they research into premature births, epilepsy, asthma, PIMS-TS , long covid and leukaemia.
Some of you will know and some will not know the medical journeys my two boys have been on. From being born premature (8 weeks early and 10 weeks early), blood transfusions and anaesthetics at 8 months old! To my eldest developing epilepsy and the countless eeg, mri scans, hospital appointments and neuro involvement. To him then nearly dying from the Paediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome (PIMS-TS) where he was the first in the hospital to have it and no one knowing what to treat him with to being in a trial where they came every 15 mins throughout the night to administer medication which saved his life.
My youngest developing asthma from his lungs not developing being born 10 weeks early. Being admitted because every time he laid flat he went blue! Hospital admissions for pneumonia over the years. Currently in a study for treatment for psoriasis where he has to inject himself every fortnight.
Both boys are taking part in research studies to help other children. For kings college london for epilepsy. For research into why some children get PIMS-TS and some do not (they believe it’s genetic). And a research into what drugs are best for attacking your immune system for psoriasis.
So although I’m not the fittest I will be completing the 50 mile london to Brighton bike ride in June for action medical as the medical conditions they research into are extremely close to my heart! ❤️
