I am passionate about helping immigrants and refugees who are struggling due to global geopolitical strife, the climate crisis, and our broken immigration system. I organize with the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs, and our Immigration Committee is partnering with HIAS to do this project. Half of what we raise through this fundraiser will support our ongoing work, including advocacy for immigration justice policies in Illinois; the other half will go towards HIAS Chicago’s Welcome Campaign, which helps support new refugee families as they settle into Chicago. This fundraiser will be especially important to support recent refugees from Afghanistan. We are also building capacity in anticipation of welcoming refugees from Ukraine into our community.
