Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In May 2010 l am participating in a trek to China to raise money for the Cardiomyopathy Association (CMA). Why China and why Cardiomyopthy Assocation you are no doubt thinking...well China for a number of reasons but mainly because it sounded like a fantastic challenge. To explain alittle about the trip after an overnite stop in Beijing l will spend 6 days hiking along the great wall. The hike is quite varied each day, 3/4 hours (first day) to 5/7 hours (second day ) taking in mountain villages along the way, even an overnite stop in "local family houses" .......the mind boggles already !!
I have chosen to do this event for The Cardiomyopathy Association as it is a charity very close to my heart. Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle that can affect people of all ages. It is usually inherited. The symptons can be minor or can, very tragically, can result in sudden death (it is the number one cause of sudden death in the under 35's). The CMA do a fantastic job of helping support suffers and their families but it costs over £410,000 to run the charity each year and they recieve no government funding and therefore have to rely solely on donations and fundraising events..like mine.
The minimum sponsorship to participate is £2600 of which £1000 l will pay (well with a very large financial donation from Matt!) so l need to raise £1600. I have already started my fundraising calender with more to follow in 2010 but l welcome any donations with open arms !
Thank you all so much in advance, l am hugely grateful for your support in helping me help this very important charity.
