We safe and decent homes for families to build new lives, hopes and opportunities

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I rather foolishly decided, in a moment of sleep deprevation, to sign up to the 2012 gold challenge.. (http://www.goldchallenge.org/2012kmchallenge) which challenges particiapants to cover 2012, 201.2 or 20.12 km or miles in an attempt to get the country off it's collective backside.   I'm using this as an excuse to raise some money for Habitat for Humanity (www.habitatforhumanity.org.uk), and to get off my backside.  I've set myself the task of completing the 2012km challenge, but might update this to miles if I feel ok after the 20.12 weeks I've given myself.

I've set up a blog which charts my progress, aches, pains and other randomness at kell21012challenge.blogspot.com

Habitat for Humanity’s vision is of a world where housing poverty and homelessness have been eliminated, and everyone has a safe, decent place to live; a place that they can call ‘home’, because we believe that the home is a key catalyst in helping to permanently break the cycle of poverty.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for Habitat for Humanity.

About the charity

We believe decent homes are the heartbeat of strong communities and so we also fight for land rights for women, upgrade urban slums and informal settlements, improve access to water and sanitation, and help communities become more resilient in the face of natural disasters.
