Hello all!
2022 is the year I'm lucky enough to be running the greatest race in the world - The London Marathon!
For me, the spirit and beauty of TLM has always been its close links to charity. Almost all of the 40,000+ runners are putting themselves through the wringer and pushing the limits of what they thought possible all in aid of others. It's amazing and very moving.
So with this in mind, I'd like to use this opportunity to raise some money for The Firefighters Charity!
In May 2020 we lost my Uncle, Calvin Dodd suddenly and unexpectedly. It was a devastating loss which me and my family are still blindsided by. Calvin was a serving Firefighter when he died and had been a member of Doncaster's Red Watch for 25 years prior to his death.
Calvin was immensely proud of his job and we were too. He loved his colleagues and considered them family - it was more than a job to him, it was a passion. Calvin donated to The Firefighters Charity each month, and it is important to me to know that I will be raising money for a charity that he was invested in. It will also be a huge motivator in me shifting my butt around those 26.2 miles with a huuuge smile on my face!
We never know when we might need a firefighter (and hopefully we never will.) But they will always be there, quietly waiting to help us in our hour of need, no matter the dangers to themselves. Please join me in showing support and appreciation for these absolute heroes.

The Fire Fighters Charity offers specialist lifelong support for members of the UK fire services community, empowering individuals to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives. We provide independent, personalised support to thousands of people each year, and they’re not all firefighters. We exist to support all fire and rescue service personnel, whatever their role in the service. We are also here for all those who have retired, as well as for spouses and dependants.
