My amazing father in law Rab is running the Great Scottish Run Half Marathon event on 1st October 2023 in memory of my beautiful son Baby Ryan ❤️. 

In May 2023, myself and my husband Ryan went to a private gender scan and found out we were having a baby boy. We were left terrified when an anomaly was detected and were referred to the fetal medicine team at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Our son was diagnosed with a bilateral cleft lip and possible palate and as a family we were initially in shock and frightened. 

We were referred to to the NHS Cleft Lip & Palate nurses who put our minds at ease, explained the process when our son would be born and gave us the details of CLAPA. As a first time Mum I was extremely nervous about what to expect and what my baby would have to go through but can safely say I was reassured by the information available on the CLAPA website & other families success stories. This enabled me to start to look forward to the journey ahead and for our little cleft baby to join our family.

On 9th July 2023, our world came crashing down when our perfect little boy was born peacefully asleep at 24 weeks. 💔💔💔 Our hearts are completely shattered at the loss of our Son who was named Ryan Robert McMeechan after his amazing Daddy & his Grandad.

Grandad Rab has been running his socks off and is raising money for the Cleft Lip & Palate Association (CLAPA) in memory of Baby Ryan and if we can help to raise money for one family with a cleft diagnosis, we will be happy.
