Dear Colleague and Friend,

I would like to seek your support in raising funds for research which will be targeted at finding the evidence base for the value and importance of orthodontic treatment to our patients, both young and old. This will directly benefit all those in clinical practice for in the years to come pressures will mount on the funding of the provision of such treatment, particularly within the NHS.

I will be walking as a ‘pilgrim’ along the way of St James to Santiago de Compostela for a total of nine days and covering 180 kms to reach Santiago de Compostela where the European Orthodontic Meeting is being held in June 2012.

The vital funds raised by the President’s Fund will be donated to the BOSF. May I suggest contributions based on the distance to be travelled as follows:

· 10p per km will raise £18.00

· 50p per km will raise £90.00

· £1.00 per km will raise £180.00
