Recently, our friend Liz Weller died following a brief battle with a rare form of Lymphoma.  She leaves behind a husband and two children.  We were chatting about it one day, wondering what we could do to help. 

Realising how helpless you are in these situations, we decided that we would like to take on a challenge in memory of Liz. Her husband Andy suggested raising money for 'Duncan House' in Blackpool. Duncan House provides comfortable accommodation for relatives of patients suffering from Cancer. It enables relatives to share precious time and remain close to the hospital bed of their loved ones, rather than time lost due to long journeys. 

As Liz shared our love of the outdoors, we thought, "what could be more fitting than doing a Mountain Challenge on her doorstep" - an area so close to her heart.

Our challenges are on Saturday the 26th of April 2014.(Debbie's might run into Sunday)

Debbie is taking part in the Fellsman Hike which starts in Ingleton and follows a 61 mile route over the highest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales. There are about 400 starters and 300 finishers.  No pressure Debbie.

Ruth is doing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Race which is a 24 mile race over the 3 peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.  999 runners start and most finish!

So please give generously to help Duncan House continue its special care.
