Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm raising money for BHF to honour the memory of a friend and my father who both died of heart conditions, as well as to thank them for their work.
Barry died five years ago from an undiagnosed heart condition. He was one of my oldest friends, we experienced so much together and he'll never be forgotten by anyone that met him.
My father died in 2010, also from a heart condition caused by a sedentary lifestyle. It was this news that led to me taking up cycling in the first place.
In 2014 I suffered a dizzy spell whilst out in London and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance. The paramedics suspected I was having a heart attack due to an irregular ECG, thankfully this was not the case(!) One possible diagnosis for the irregularity was Brugada syndrome, but a test administered by BHF-trained arrhythmia nurses gave me the all-clear. I'll be forever grateful to the nurses for their help and understanding during this time. My eventual diagnosis was a right bundle branch block but hopefully this should not cause me any issues.
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
