Story
In April 2022 I signed up for my first ever marathon, Leeds 2023 - the Rob Burrow marathon. I've kept it super quiet because I was worried about the pressure of "how's marathon training going?" "what time do you want to do it in?" And all that!
In October 2022 friends were entering the London Marathon Ballot and I was all "no I'm not entering that" and got serious FOMO (Fear of missing out) and thought "ah whatever, I may as well enter, I'll never get a place in the ballot!"
So on Mon 24 October I found myself like many others, constantly refreshing my emails awaiting my ballot result. What have I become? I was so nervous - I would say I was 50/50 about whether I wanted a place or not.
Friends were receiving their rejections so I just assumed I'd be the same, but seemed to be waiting an absolute age! At 2pm as I was sat in the dentist waiting room I opened my email again. There it was, "are you in?" Clicking through the various stages (a real rollercoaster of clicking!) There it was in bright pink "YOU'RE IN!" .... "Oh $#it" hahahaha nooooo what have I done?! Two marathons just three weeks apart from each other!!
Now comes the really tricky part. Raising the much needed funds for Alzheimer's Society to which I have a strong link. My mum is living with Alzheimer's and it's really not nice (understatement!!!)
Please donate whatever you are able to, to help me achieve this goal. It's going to be a real test of stamina and mental and physical strength. Thank you so much in advance for your support both financially and emotionally over the next six months!!
