Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Me and Tom are doing a sponsored dog walk along the canal and around denton reservoir to raise money for the Nowzad dog Charity. This charity supports the welfare of the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq who have rescued and formed a bond with a stray dog, cat or other animal while on a tour of duty. These animals provide them with a lot of comfort and once they leave, it is heart breaking for them to have to turn their much loved companions back onto the streets where they face a bleak future, especially as they now have a trust in humans. Dogs are commonly used for fighting, and often their ears and tails are cruelly removed. This charity raises money to help them bring the animal home and get them through quarantine, only when the soldier or someone they know can guarantee it a home. They also promote animal welfare in these countries, of which there is currently very little, and help to train vets and start neutering programs which will help prevent the spread of diseases like rabies in the Afghan and Iraqi people.
