Story

Having had major shoulder surgery in Jan 2018 that has left me struggling through rehab returning to the pool was hard. In August I couldn't even swim a length during rehab, today I still don't have full movement and swim a bit like a deranged walrus. With family having been diagnosed with Diabetes it is a real risk for me so I'm keen to stay fit and healthy. This challenge is something pre injury that wouldn't have been a challenge but would have been the norm. Now it is a big challenge, one that hopefully will assist my further rehab on the shoulder whilst being for a good cause.  Concurrently I will in March be doing a 5km swim for Cancer Research too, (that's 200 lengths in one go, bare in mind only just back in pool!) for which there will be a separate page - meaning you can pick your preferred of the two charities if you want to support me or them.

Diabetes UK is the charity leading the fight against the most devastating and fastest growing health crisis of our time, creating a world where diabetes can do no harm. Its a fight that involves all of us sharing knowledge and taking diabetes on together.
