Fundraising for Cardiac Risk in the Young
Mathew and I had been close friends since I can remember, we were childhood friends and went through primary and secondary school together. With Mathew only living at the top of my street, we were always playing out when we were younger, always kicking a ball about in the park. We played on the same football team at school aswell. Mathew had always told his mum, Karen, "she's well good, you should get her to play for your team mum!" which recently, I have joined and now play for Karens team, Welwyn Garden City Ladies. Mathew was healthy, fun, lively and fit for his age, which is why at the age of 13, 6 weeks before his 14th birthday, it was a massive shock for everyone who knew Mathew that he had passed away suddenly of an undiagnosed heart condition. It all happened so quick. However, with the help and support from Cardiac Risk In The Young, friends and family of Mathew have been able to fundraise and support eachother throughout. So this September I am running the Great North Run in Newcastle, a 13 mile half marathon, for my chosen charity, cardiac risk in the young in memory of Mathew Blease. ANY donations will be very much apprieciated, no matter what money you can donate. Every penny counts!
Thank you
Kayla
