Story
Please join me in running on June 10 ...
I am not the running type. No 'turkey trots' or 'sunday runs'. If you see me running, I must be getting chased. You can be sure then that a 5k -- which is trivial for many people, I realize -- has never been on my bucket list. Then again, there are a lot of things I've done over the last 18 months that I never thought I would do.
So, here we are. Kayla's running a 5k, and I would love for you to run/walk/trot/bike with me! There are many reasons I wanted to challenge myself to do this:
- In memory of my son, Charlie;
- In support of the Ronald McDonald House; and,
- To raise awareness of neonatal death, pregnancy loss, and crush the taboos that surround these topics, including grief.
I'm also doing this for myself, as an acknowledgment of the strength, courage, and resilience that has gotten me this far.

A quick aside: if you are not familiar with RMHC, they are a fantastic organization that supports families with children in the hospital. While in the NICU, they kept us fed, provided us with resources, and even offered us a hotel-like room to sleep in at the hospital so we could remain close to our babe. https://rmhccni.org/
