I'm a mad Brit submariner vet kayaking the coastline, interconnected waterways, canals and rivers of 'The Great Loop' of N. America and Canada, starting in June 2018 and aiming to finish by September 2019.

This is my way to celebrate retirement -an extreme challenge for me AND a reason to fundraise for charities...

I am paddling solo, camping each night and carrying all needed in my sea kayak -tent, food, cooking gear etc.

My 6000+ miles route will ONLY take about 15 months to complete!

I am fundraising for four British charities, three American and two Canadian -I have to include you N. American cousins because I'm going to be with you so long ...I need you to help keep this challenge alive as I paddle by over such a long period of time and, OF COURSE, Canada must give to Canada and USA to USA...

My British charities have all been closely associated with my life, I am retiring from being an Emergency Care  Attendant with England's South Western Ambulance Service, I worked in Dorset County Hospital's Renal Unit and I served as a submariner in the Royal Navy. So I ask Americans to support my effort by donating to either Disabled American Veterans, the American Kidney Fund or the US Navy Submarine Force Library & Museum and Canadians to give to the Canadian Naval Memorial, HMCS Sackville or to the  Kidney Foundation of Canada.

Those 6000+ miles start at Halifax, Nova Scotia on 1st June 2018. I head north inside Cape Breton and Prince Edward Islands into the Gulf of St. Lawrence and up the St. Lawrence River to visit Quebec City, Montreal and Ottawa via the Ottawa River. I then take the Rideau Canal to enter the Great Lakes at Kingston, ON. After a break to visit Toronto and Niagara Falls it's the Severn-Trent Waterway to Georgian Bay and the North Channel of Lake Huron. I enter the US at Mackinac Island and cross Lake Michigan to reach Chicago where I head south for the Gulf of Mexico via the Illinois, Mississippi and Ohio Rivers and the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, back into the sea at Mobile, Alabama. Then it's circumnavigate Florida, the Gulf Intra-coastal Waterway to Fort Myers, the Okeechobee Waterway and Lake to join the Atlantic ICW and off up the east coast to Chesapeake Bay. Definitely a break at Annapolis to visit the US Naval Academy and Washington DC. Next it's Baltimore and the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal, back down to Cape May and up the AICW again to Atlantic City and New York City. Time off in NYC, paddle to the Submarine Force Museum at Groton, CT, on to visit Boston and then hug the coastline around the Gulf of Maine, the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia and back to Halifax....

I said solo --but please come paddle with me for ANY period of time ANYWHERE along the route...

Thanks for reading of my insanity, please support me by giving to one of YOUR charities... Steve 🇺🇸🇬🇧🇨🇦
