Patricia Harrison was a fantastic mum and nan. I had my eye removed due to RB at the age of 2. I only became aware of CHECT when I had my son. William was first screened when he was just 1 month and 3 days old. He is now three, having been checked 16 times since the first time and has been clear so far. The staff at the Royal London Hospital are fabulous and make the time there feel friendly and warm, especially for the children. There was no such screening when I was a child, so it may have been possible my twin sister could have had RB, but she was never checked. CHECT help with the early diagnosis and treatment, which means losing an eye is usually the very last option available to consider.
