Story
At the end of 2019 I set myself a challenge to run the London Marathon in 2020, by the time I hit 40. I decided to run in aid of Challengers - a charity who provided play and support to Reuben, the autistic son of my dear friends Helen & Tom. Then the pandemic happened, the marathon was postponed and my running shoes were relegated in favour of lockdown gin and a shiny new Peloton bike. After close to 2 years of minimal running, I relinquished my marathon place for the October 2022 race earlier that year.
Very sadly, Helen died from cancer in October 2022 leaving a huge hole in our lives and our hearts. When Challengers got in touch asking if I’d like to reconsider and rejoin the team I couldn’t refuse. I’m running for everything this amazing charity does but also for Helen, whose tenacity, strength and courage surpasses anything I’ll need to do to get round the course. It’s been an emotional time but I hope by raising money for a cause close to her heart, I will do her proud.
I’m aware that many of you sponsored me the first time round and I therefore really appreciate every tiny amount you can spare.
Thank you 🙏
