Fundraising for THE CHRISTIE CHARITY
For this year's personal challenge, I have gone and entered the Tatton Park sprint triathlon. This involves a 750 m swim, a 19 km bike ride and then a 5 km run. Now, I can do swimming, in a lake (or salford quays, even!) and I can do cycling. The challenge bit is doing it all together, and finishing with running. This is something I don't generally do. So as motivation, and a bonus to the Christie hospital, I have decided to raise some money.
The Christie hospital is in Manchester, and is the largest cancer centre in Europe and treats over 40,000 patients every year. On top of that, it is an international leader in cancer research.
The money that I am raising will go towards a variety of appeals - aiming to improve the lives of patients now and in the future. They are currently planning a network of radiotherapy centres across Greater Manchester - this will allow patients to be treated much closer to where they live, and therefore avoid long uncomfortable journeys. Money also goes towards patient support, for example providing welfare for those in financial need due to their illness, or counselling and complementary techniques to alleviate side-effects of treatment.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page, and I hope I have inspired you to give a little to the Christie.
(Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.)
