Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

I'm running my first ever Great North Run to help the Stroke Association continue their good work in research and patient care. My Mum suffered a stroke completely out of the blue over 7years ago...but still managed to continue to live her life to the full despite the disablities it caused her.

In December I told her I had entered the Great North Run, she thought I was crazy and found it highly amusing that I was out of breath just after 1mile when I ran round to see her! Sadly in February, she passed away due to unrelated causes, this has made me even more determined to complete this challenge for her.

Please wish me luck and help show your support the Stroke Association,

Katy, xxxx
