Fundraising for Evelina London Children's Charity
Story
Three Peaks.....2days......2 slightly unhinged individuals....and one amazing charity......
The doctors and nurses at Evelina Children's Hospital do amazing work and it’s thanks to them that baby Reece Gardiner is home and well with his family. Reece was born healthy and well but at 1 week old he contracted a viral infection. Due his tiny size it was able to attack his organs, mainly his heart, causing it stop functioning properly, and sadly his parents were twice told to say goodbye to Reece....
But thanks to the amazing work by these guys Reece, who became known by doctors and nurses at the hospital as "Miracle Baby", has made an amazing recovery and was able to come home after a month, much to the relief of his parents and big brother Max.
To say thank you for all their amazing work we are planning on embarking on a sizeable and possibly slightly daft challenge...3 peaks in 2days.... the 3 highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales
The Challenge will take place over May half term week. We’ll be driving the 559 miles to a day in advance. On day 1 we shall climb Ben Nevis and then drive 259 miles to the Lakes, then on day 2 we will climb Scafell, then drive 251 miles to North Wales and climb !!! The facts and figs: – 9 miles to walk/climb, with an ascent of 1290m. Scaffel – 5.8 miles with 855m ascent. – 8 miles with 730m ascent.
So we are doing the hard work, now it comes to your part in this....we need as many of you as possible to dig deep and donate all you can to help raise the profile of Evelina and provide much needed funds to enable them to carry on such excellent work - and also to say thanks for the lives they have saved and will continue to save.
