Story
On the 30th June, I'm running 100km from Bath to Cheltenham in (hopefully) well under 24 hours for Mind. Here's why...
Those that know me are aware that usually keep my cards pretty close to my chest, but I'm going to lay some on the table now.
Last year a dear friend took her own life. She was beautifully kind, like a big sister growing up and hadn't even hit 30 yet. The last thing she said to me was:
'I'm so proud of you'.
People often ask what drives me to sign up for mad events [Ultimate Hell Week, ultra-marathons, Ironman 70.3] and there's no better reason or bigger drive than that - knowing that I've made her proud.
Almost everyone has been affected by mental health either directly or indirectly. I consider myself extremely lucky to have such a strong head on my shoulders and firmly believe that the outdoors and exercise are an essential part of that - healthy body and healthy mind.
This will be a huge challenge. The furthest I've run before is 51km, so this is pretty much double. Although it's a different type of battle, it will be my own special KP physical and mental battle all the same.
I hope this inspires others to get outside and challenge themselves physically and/or mentally - trust me, you'll love it.
And most of all, Lamby, this bloomin better make you proud!!!
[Any donation large or small will be hugely appreciated - thank you]
Love KPxxx
