Story

In true ‘Katy fashion’ this all started from a casual conversation whilst having tea and toast with my watch. No planning, just a ‘I’d love to do that’. So I applied for a place thinking ‘why not’ and here we are.

All joking aside, it is a huge honour to run the London Marathon for The Fire Fighters Charity - an organisation providing invaluable mental, physical and social support to all serving and retired members of the UK's fire family.

For those outside the fire service, it’s difficult to fully explain why this charity is so important. The Fire Service operates by individuals selflessly putting other people’s needs before their own. That responsibility is one of the greatest parts of the job but equally it can be demanding on our own well-being. This is where The Fire Fighters Charity comes in - we look after people in their most vulnerable moments and then The Fire Fighters Charity are there to look after us.

All funds donated and raised will go towards The Fire Fighters Charity who will then cover the cost of my London Marathon place and all profits will go towards their wonderful work.

I know this is going to be the hardest thing I’ve ever done but with each step I’ll be fuelled with pride for the job I do with Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service and equally supporting this deserving charity.

If you’re able to support my fundraising I would be very very grateful ❤️
