As many of you know, my two youngest children, James and Evie sadly suffer from the life limiting Mitochondrial Disease. The last 5 years since their diagnosis has been a huge rollercoaster for our family, but I finally find myself in a place as 2022 dawns, to do something hugely worthwhile for the Lily Foundation.

For those who know me, I’ve not really got an athletes physique 😂 or fitness, but this is something I have been working on recently, slowly building up my running to conquer those 13.1 miles in Newcastle in September. This is the biggest challenge ever for me, but I’m doing it wholeheartedly with all three of my babies in mind. To make them proud and to raise much needed funds for the Lily Foundation, in the hope to find a cure for this dreadful, life limiting disease.

Did you know every day in the UK a baby is born who will develop mitochondrial disease? I'm taking part in The Great North Run as part of Team Lily will be running for every one of them and the 10 million people in the UK who suffer from diseases in which mitochondrial dysfunction is believed to be involved. This disease is debilitating, there is no cure and lives are cut far too short. The Lily Foundation's aim is to one day find a cure for mito.
