Please support the Kit Tarka Foundation (KTF): a charity that works to prevent newborn baby deaths
Hello! My next challenge is to walk 26.2 miles in one day to raise money for The Kit Tarka Foundation, a charity that works to prevent newborn baby deaths primarily through raising awareness of neonatal herpes and funding research.
I am a Paediatric Infectious Disease specialist currently running a national study looking at the prevalence of neonatal herpes infections which is part funded by the Kit Tarka Foundation. The herpes simplex virus in adults mainly causes simple cold sores or genital herpes but in babies can be life threatening and infact more babies die every year from Herpes infection than the better known listeria infection. The good news is there are simple things pregnant women and new parents can do to reduce the risk of this infection.

So… being unfit I’m going to attempt to walk the 26.2 miles which will be the longest day walk I have ever done (by about 20 miles!) as part of the TCS virtual Marathon to raise money for KTF. I’m so lucky to have persuaded my friend Barbara to do this with me
THANK YOU for any support to help stop babies dying from this virus
