Story
The Clipathon is a crazy idea I had 18 months ago.
It came to fruition in less than a month, after setting myself the target to clip as many horses as I could in 12 hours. I managed 11 in 11 hours but after sustaining a kick I had to stop falling short of my target.
This year, with the help of some equally mad friends, we are attempting the 2nd Clipathon, and this year it’s going to be HUGE.
10 people, 12 hours and a seemingly impossible target of ONE HUNDRED horses.
We are aiming for a World Record, and to raise as much money for a charity many of us have needed at some point in our lives.
Depression, and many other mental illnesses are rife in the Equine and Agricultural industries, with suicide an all time high in Farming. No one should ever feel alone, never feel like they can’t talk their problems through or that there is no end to what’s happening to them.
This years Clipathon is in memory of Bradley John, a 14 year old boy who took his own life because he was being bullied for being different. Bradley was a young and aspiring Huntsman, and was already well known on the hunting field as the Whipper-In of the Three Counties Bloodhounds, alongside his father. Bradley had diagnosed ADHD, something other people saw as a weakness and therefore tormented him for. The hunting community has pulled together to lift up and support his family and loved ones at this horrendous time, and as a strong community we will continue to make sure that no one feels like Bradley did. A tragic loss at a young age, and a tragic loss for huntings future.
Please join us in raising as much money as we can, so that Mind can continue their fabulous work in keeping everyone feeling not alone.
